Synopsis
EU Producer Responsibility legislation for packaging waste was introduced in 1997, and more recently for waste electrical goods and batteries. Only companies which annually have a turnover exceeding £2 million, and also handle more than 50 tonnes of packaging, are obligated under the Regulations. There are no exemptions however for producers and distributors (retailers) of electrical and electronic equipment. Angus Macpherson has been a leading figure on the Producer Responsibility stage since the introduction of the legislation, and can answer queries and offer guidance to companies who are, or may be, obligated to comply.
