The importance of science communication
Session time slot
  • Session WE3 | Wednesday 17 March | 12:00-12:45
Synopsis
There is an increasing need for individuals with STEM skills to bridge the gap between scientific research and business applications. My role in the Met Office is to tailor the most recent climate research to investigate how climate change may impact businesses in the future. Communication of complex science is a key aspect in this role; however formal training is rare. I would like to discuss the key skills needed to communicate science in business and how these could be incorporated into the STEM education syllabus. This may also provide a means of illustrating the types of exciting employment opportunities that are open to STEM students.
