EMS Easy – Implement your Environmental Management System quicker, cheaper and simpler?
Session time slot
  • Session WE2 | Wednesday 17 March | 10:40-11:25
Synopsis
In today’s competitive world many potential clients seek good environmental credentials or even international standard accreditation as part of their criteria when deciding who to do business with. Therefore it is becoming increasingly more important and popular to have a working Environmental Management System (EMS) that meets ISO 14001 standards.

However, putting an effective EMS into place can be expensive, time consuming, complicated and uninteresting. EMS Easy is designed to enable small and medium sized businesses to implement an Environmental Management System to ISO 14001 standard in a cheaper, simpler, quicker and more engaging way than traditional methods.

What is EMS Easy?
A tailored toolkit providing all the documentation necessary to develop an Environmental Management System to ISO 14001 standard.

Key benefits of EMS Easy:
This innovative training substantially reduces the time and cost of ISO14001 or EMAS implementation.

- Easy to understand
- Helps improve business performance
- All staff engage with the process and see the benefits
- Fast to implement (4-9 instead of 15-18 months)
- Reduced implementation cost
- Lean and un-bureaucratic

EMS Easy is based on a popular tool called ecomapping, which provides small organisations with a free, visual, straightforward and practical tool to analyse and manage their environmental aspects and create an understanding of their current environmental situation. The system does not require ‘environmental literacy’, as there are no complicated written procedures and instructions.

The training programme is designed to give businesses control over developing and implementing their own EMS resulting in a system that is concise, simple, engages staff, is less procedure intensive and costs less to implement and operate than a traditional EMS.
